The Anoka County Highway Department wanted to build a sand/salt storage facility which will withstand the extensive wear and extreme conditions and have a longer service life than the average storage facility. The combination of sand, salt, moisture, freeze/thaw action and the extensive wear of the front end loaders requires special material engineering and durability considerations in the design and specification of the facility floor.

The Anoka County Highway Department and it's design consultant hired JEC to review the project specifications and supplement the concrete requirements to meet the owner's need for a floor slab of high performance concrete to stand up to harsh service conditions.

JEC reviewed the specifications and performed field observations during concrete placement to ensure compliance with project specifications.
